Cannabis use is on the rise within the United States. A 2018 study notes that, while cannabis use among teens has decreased, American adults are increasingly using cannabis on the daily. Based on Forbes, the international cannabis market is estimated to be worth $7.7 billion. It’s projected hitting $31.4 billion by 2021.

The industry is booming to some extent because cannabis can be quite a versatile kind of medication. Numerous research studies have found that cannabis has the possible ways to assist with a number of medical conditions, including anxiety, chronic pain, and epilepsy.

But, just like any recreational or medical marijuana user will tell you, not all cannabis is made equal. Different strains of cannabis produce different effects, and so can be used different reasons.

If marijuana is legal where you live and you’re looking to try it, although not sure which strains best meet your requirements, we’ve got you covered. Check out our guide to marijuana strains below.

Exactly what is a marijuana strain? If you’ve read a little about marijuana, or maybe you enter most dispensaries, you might see the words indica, sativa, and hybrid. Generally, most people divide marijuana in to these three categories.

Indica, which comes from the Hindu Kush mountains of India, is known to get a relaxing impact on the consumer. Sativa features a more energizing effect, while hybrid is a mixture of both.

Many industry experts, however, are reconsidering the indica, sativa and hybrid categories. According to Amos Elberg, head of data science at Confident Cannabis, these terms are pretty much meaningless.

“We see samples of all cannabis products tested through our partner labs, and when we take a look at all the data, particularly in the chemical makeup of flower, we percieve no identifiable characteristics which can be consistent with indica, sativa, or hybrid,” he explains.

“Essentially folks are by using these terms as catchalls for effect, but they’re not every consistent with those effects. Some indica makes many people wired, not couch-locked, for example.”

Quite simply, people shouldn’t be alarmed in case a reportedly energizing sativa strain has even more of a mellowing effect, or if perhaps an indica strain means they are feel more bubbly and excitable.

Beyond indica, sativa, and hybrid, dispensaries might divide the sorts of cannabis they have got into strains. Strains are essentially different breeds of cannabis, and they’re bred to get specific effects around the user.

However if the terms indica, sativa, and hybrid are essentially useless categorizations, are strain names also meaningless?

Not exactly, says Elberg. “Not all seeds which can be sold underneath the same name are genetically identical, or perhaps necessarily related. Some producers might want to produce a strain name essentially as a branding exercise, or identify their product with the existing name simply because they believe the product matches characteristics the current market expects from product sold under that name,” Elberg explains. You will find, however, still consistencies among product sold under specific strain names, Elberg adds.

“In general, for that more uncommon names, product sold by different vendors is commonly pretty consistent,” he notes. “For the most typical strain names, however, a wider selection of different products are sold.”

Should you buy product from the quality source, the strains needs to be pretty much consistent. Bear in mind, however, that each person reacts differently to cannabis.

How to choose a strain – The strain you decide on depends upon what effect zhzvmn desire. As said before, cannabis has a variety of medical uses, however, many strains are better for several conditions as opposed to others.

It’s also worth researching the possible side effects in the strain. Most of the more prevalent strains, which you can find below, list dry mouth, dry eyes, and dizziness as possible side effects. Marijuana also offers the potential to interact with medications you might be taking. Do not operate machinery when using marijuana.
